The Milieu
Hi! I'm Shawna, and in this lifetime I was born, raised, and continue to live and practice in beautiful Colorado. As a curious middle schooler aware of her empathic sensibilities, I picked up books on pagan and Celtic traditions and began my highly secretive Book of Shadows. By highly secretive, I mean hiding a beat-to-shit notebook to keep my witchy self under wraps. Skip ahead a couple decades, and while maintaining connection to Spirit, I pursued traditional collegiate avenues; worked the dyad of character-building trades (aka retail + food service… a crucial, uncensored insight into human psyche and behavior); and was able to join the burgeoning commercial cannabis industry in its infancy.

Growing up in the foothills of JeffCo with easy access to Summit County and Nederland - I am no stranger to cannabis. We’ll skip to ‘on-the-books’ and what I can include on a resume… I received my CO MED badge in 2011 and have sustained a love-hate relationship with the industry ever since. Over the years I've managed employees and operated in facilities up to 35,000 sq ft, where my focus spanned a multitude of areas: predominantly post-harvest raw material handling; high-volume inventory control and quality assurance; compliance and regulation implementation; and training and employee development.

Most recently I've been involved with writing applications and procedural documents for cannabis business licensure; aiding in operation setup and process improvement; and forging my path in the fight for social equity within the cannabis space. Don’t get me wrong -- has it been a surreal decade+ of watching this all unfold on a commercial, mainstream level? Definitely. Am I forever thankful for having the opportunity to grow with it and watch it first-hand? Of course. Does it tear me apart knowing there are social injustices and inequities imposed by nonsensical and antiquated laws and systemic racism; missteps that hinder best practices and sustainability; and widespread uses of misinformation? Incredibly so. Do I feel responsible for stewarding cannabis into a sustainable, conscientious industry and away from stigma? More than I can express.

Feeling as though I was ready to begin my path in providing shamanic offerings to others, but unsure of what I would do with my cannabis background, a concept was birthed in the Summer of 2018 - a time when I thought I needed to compartmentalize everything. Cannabis work there; spiritual and energetic work here; knack for organization and operations over there; a fondness for OG and hops right here... Until one of my teachers and mentors posed the possibilities that could arise from bringing it all together. The evolution of my practice to bridge my work with cannabis and the energetic realms has garnered a trove of knowledge, information, and experience that is in reserve to encourage others - individuals and organizations alike - to embody their highest selves and the divine. Where the heck am I going with all this? Notitia.
The Moniker
I spent a great deal of time with my Guides and Ancestors to call in the name. I sat with the words, symbols, and various languages coming through, and I wanted to connect with the fundamental components of being … which is when I found myself reading through quantum physics forums.

While I combed through the practical explanations of being, I stumbled upon a few theological interpretations and it stunned me with the simplicity and profundity: information. Information as the building blocks of being. Connection through information. Function through information. Existence through information. It was clear in my journeys that the name would not be in American English, and with ancient information in mind I tried a Latin translation - notitia. It was a “Eureka!” moment. From the first time I said it aloud, it felt right. Smooth. Effortless. Familiar.
Information. Notitia.

The Movement
On the ‘Services’ and 'Book Online' pages, you will find detailed descriptions of the current channels in which I have been called to serve - for both individuals and businesses; within cannabis and without.

In addition to being of service to others, Notitia is a platform to promote integrity, equity, energetic connection, sovereignty, autonomy, and sustainable longevity; and to advocate for and align with those who have historically been denied such a platform. As a white, female-identifying individual, I recognize that with privilege comes responsibility.

It is deeply important and imperative that we acknowledge and address the systemic racism and cultural appropriation that has impacted our disenfranchised and marginalized siblings. I have a responsibility to the Apache, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Pueblo, Shoshone, and Ute tribes whose stolen lands I reside on; a responsibility to the BIPoC and LGBTQQIP2SAA+ communities striving for equality; and a responsibility to the teachers and lineages of the spiritual, energetic, and herbal work I participate in.
